Channel 5 Khabrain studio in Lahore arranged a forum to discuss the rising incidents of violence against women with special focus on acid throwing incidents. Representatives from different walks of life including politicians, medical doctors, lawyers, social workers were invited to participate. Yasmeen Zahoor, Mariam and two acid burn victims; Kulsoom and Naureen joined the discussion on behalf of DSF. The moderator presented a brief of violence against women in Pakistan.
The participants condemned all forms of violence against women and attributed the lack of implementation of law to be the major hurdle in the justic system. Mehnaz Rafi emphasized that violence against women is a serious offense and all political parties should highlight in their manifesto to address this issue.
