To mark the International Women’s Day, All Pakistan Women’s Association organized daylong events including: competition among girls’ colleges from Lahore (self grooming, fashion & tailoring), art & craft exhibition, free medical camp for women and opening of THE APWA ETHNIC (a project to promote Home Based Workers and Women Entrepreneurs).
Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed Ud Din was the Chief Guest. She highlighted that participation in all walks of life is the key to progress. She assured that Punjab Government takes women’s issues seriously and policy announcements for the welfare of women are forth coming.
A number of leading NGOs and civil society representatives participated in the event. Ayesha Taslim, Director Program represented DSF. Later she discussed the possibilities of training acid survivors in various crafts offered by APWA. Dur e Shawar, Program Manager APWA assured all support to DSF.
