DSF team was invited by Madadgar NGO to participate in the Girl Power Program assessment exercise. Aliya Khan, External Relations Manager and acid burn survivor Saira Siddiqui participated. ‘Madadgar’ has established a helpline for women and children in Pakistan, fighting against violence. It provides help and guidance to the survivors of physical abuse such as attempt to murder, kidnapping, harassment, forced labor, under-age marriages and illegal confinement. Aliya khan highlighted the DSF Mission and shared that starting from registration; the burn victims are provided medical treatment, psycho-social support, vocational training and rehabilitation. Saira Siddiqui proudly shared that after due medical treatment she received training as a beautician and presently she is working in Depilex Beauty Clinic and Institute as front desk manager. The DSF representatives invited ‘Madadgar’ to refer acid burn cases to DSF. ‘Madadgar’ appreciated the DSF initiatives and assured full cooperation.
A large number of lawyers, psychologists, media and civil society representatives participated in the day long program.
