Daily newspaper ‘Jahan Pakistan’ organized a forum to discuss various aspects of violence against women in order to find solutions. Women leaders from civil society; APWA, Aurat Foundation, Depilex Smileagain Foundation and provincial secretary, women’s development were invited. It was revealed that 35% of women and girls globally experience some form of physical and or sexual violence in their lifetime with up to seven in ten women facing this abuse in some countries.
Masarrat Misbah highlighted the worst form of violence against women was in the form of acid throwing and crippling a women for a life time. The costs and consequence of this kind of violence against women last for generations. She emphasized that while the laws exist; poor implementation leads the victims nowhere.
