During the month of May 2023, The Depilex Smileagain Foundation (DSF) continued its unwavering commitment to its mission of providing comprehensive medical care and support to acid attack survivors. Going beyond immediate assistance, DSF aims to empower these survivors, enabling them to reintegrate into society as self-reliant and productive individuals.
On May 3rd, 2023, Riphah International University in Islamabad conducted interviews with three burn survivors. The purpose was to understand the circumstances surrounding their tragedy, the challenges they have faced, and how DSF has played a pivotal role in their journey towards recovery and rehabilitation.
Later, on May 10th, 2023, Dr. Saleem Shehzad, the Medical Director of Mid-city Hospital, along with his team, visited the DSF office for a meeting with Masarrat Misbah (MM), the founder President. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss collaborative efforts and share valuable insights for enhancing the services provided to survivors.
In another significant event which took place on May 25th, 2023, DSF met with the director of Qasr-e-Behbood. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the great opportunity of training 100 survivors under the Dawood Global Foundation Scholarship program. This initiative aims to empower and educate these young girls, offering them a brighter future.
On May 29th, 2023, DSF attended the ASY exhibition, where talented young survivors showcased their expertise in designing casual and party wear dresses. This platform provided an opportunity to display their skills and gain recognition for their talents.
Additionally, on May 30th, 2023, DSF received an invitation to participate in the Iqbal Forum held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal. The DSF staff attended the event, using the opportunity to explain the organization’s work and raise awareness about the heinous crime of acid throwing.
The month concluded with a visit to Evercare Hospital in Lahore on May 31st, 2023. This visit was driven by the shared vision of making a positive impact on the lives of individuals affected by acid burns. DSF sought to explore avenues for collaboration and exchange knowledge for the betterment of survivors.
Throughout the month, DSF remained dedicated to its mission of providing holistic support, empowering survivors, and fostering a society that rejects acid violence.
